“A master of psychological thrillers!”—VC Andrews
A picture perfect town holds a chilling secret.
Justine Freeman and her parents move to Elysian Fields to start anew, and the picturesque town seems the perfect place to do so. In fact, their new neighborhood seems too good to be true. Their neighbors are all polite and helpful, and the streets are eerily clean. Even the teenagers of Elysian Field are perfect. They don’t drink, they don’t smoke, and they are polite to their elders to a fault.
But Justine is a more typical teenager, and while the new girl in town hasn’t yet learned how to behave like the teenagers of Elysian Fields, she will. Because in Elysian Fields, there are so many ways—horribly effective ways—to turn disobedient children into Perfect Little Angels.

Survive the infection! Survive the Infected!
A new flu strain has been spreading across Africa, Europe, and Asia. Disturbing news footage is flooding the cable news channels. People are worried and frightened.
But Zed Zane is oblivious. He needs to borrow rent money from his parents. He gets up Sunday morning, drinks enough tequila to stifle his pride and heads to his mom’s house for a lunch of begging, again.
But something is wrong. There’s blood in the foyer. His mother’s corpse is on the living room floor. Zed’s stepdad, Dan is wild with crazy-eyed violence and attacks Zed when he comes into the house. They struggle into the kitchen. Dan’s yellow teeth tear at Zed’s arm but he grabs a knife and stabs Dan, thirty-seven times, or so the police later say.
With infection burning in his blood, Zed is arrested for murder but the world is falling apart and he soon finds himself back on the street, fighting for his life among the infected who would kill him and the normal people, who fear him.
Slow Burn: Infected picks up the story of Zed, Murphy, and Jerome where Slow Burn: Zero Day ended.
All three have been infected but have not succumbed to the most pernicious symptoms of the virus. Nevertheless, their band of fearful survivors, have ostracized them.
Back on the street, with weapons to defend themselves but little food in their packs, they embark on a search for Murphy’s family while following a rumor of safe haven in the form of a doomsday bunker in east Austin.
But the world is more hazardous than they know. They expect violence from the voracious infected but they have harsh lessons to learn about the uninfected. And humans to support the infrastructure of modern civilization, they find that danger comes in many forms.
Zed is saying goodbye to one friend and pressing forward with two new ones, Mandi, whom Zed and Murphy rescued from the bunker, is immune to the virus, and Russell, also a slow burn, but lower-functioning, childlike and docile.
After seeing the carnage at the dormitory, a raging, vengeful Zed wants only to kill Mark, his nemesis and the former leader of the ROTC squad. Since Mark has disappeared, Zed unleashes his fury on untold numbers of infected in his path as he makes his way back to the hospital, in an attempt to rescue Steph, a nurse whom he befriended while seeking help for the feverish Murphy shortly after the prison riot. But the brave medical staff, holed up on the tenth floor of the hospital, and running out of provisions, has decided to take matters in hand by exposing themselves to the virus, and shooting those who “turn.” Zed is determined not to face another loss, but time is running out.

THE ENEMY WE KNOW
Psychotherapist Letty Whittaker, a professional secret keeper, has a secret of her own. When one of her clients slips free from an abusive boyfriend, Letty becomes the target of his violent rage. Wayne invades Letty’s life, slithering his way past the barriers erected between her personal and professional lives, leaving gifts of dead rats, mutilated dolls, and freaky Shakespearian sonnets. Worst of all, Wayne uncovers Letty’s deepest shame, infiltrating her AA group and threatening to expose her to the state licensing board.
And then–good news–Wayne is murdered. The bad news? The police suspect Letty. Worse yet, the sonnets and bloody souvenirs keep coming. Someone else has been watching Letty. Someone eager to drop bodies at her feet like a cat offering dead mole trophies to his mistress.
Someone willing to kill again.

The One We Love: Suspense with a Dash of Humor (A Letty Whittaker 12 Step Mystery)
After the mysterious death of a colleague, psychotherapist Letty Whittaker “inherits” her friends clients from the local domestic abuse shelter, and makes some disturbing discoveries: stolen files, an AWOL resident, and an unexplained ethics complaint.
When psychotherapist and recovering alcoholic Letty Whittaker responds to a middle-of-the-night crisis call, she knows helping Trinnie face her demons won’t be easy. However, instead of finding her friend dead drunk, Letty finds her just . . . dead. And Paul, another close friend, is the primary suspect.
Ian Greefe always had issues with his parents – the main one being that they aren’t.
Settled for many years at the other end of the country, out of the blue he gets a call to arms; he has to care for his mother, who now has Alzheimer’s, while his father is in hospital.
Over the course of a week ‘back home’, secrets gradually come out that make him reassess his views on family life, and come to terms with his own shortcomings as a son and father.
A warm, bittersweet comedy drama full of though-provoking contradictions, here are just some of the quotes from independent reviewers:
So much more than just a comedy – a wonderful, intimate blend of emotions wound up in a slice of ‘real’ life, delivered with mastery.
Bittersweet is the perfect description of this. I loved the humour and poignancy. There were so many brilliant lines that I stopped picking them out and just read.
I loved it, the dialogue was very realistic, the characters were easy to picture. This is definitely something I would select in a bookstore.
You’re great at really capturing a character with just a turn of phrase or one or two lines.
An exceptionally well delivered offering in a technical sense – uncliched, crisp, lively prose, top quality construction
A darned good read.
Absolutely loved it!
Definitely pulled me into the story. Something I would buy.
Professional and a pleasure to read.
A treat to read some genuinely amusing comedy
I really enjoyed this and laughed out loud several times. You demonstrate a compelling wit and kept me amused throughout. Perhaps humour is the best way of dealing with serious issues like Alzheimers but you underpin this with a genuine sense of concern.
